Before and After #1: Graphic Space
I chose the before image that was a flyer about a group piano lesson. This image had quite a few issues in relation to the graphic space information in our readings. The biggest concern I noticed with the image was in relation to the alignment. None of the graphics, and very of the little of the text, are aligned with each other. This also broke "rules" in the areas of grids and the Rule of Thirds. This is very distracting and makes the information seem very unorganized. There is also no weight given to information that should stand out more, such as the date and times. The images were very basic and sometimes distorted, along with being spaced in awkward locations.
When I recreated the image, I gave more weight to important information by making the font larger, making the font bold, or boxing it in. I also used an image of a piano that depicted depth to draw more attention to the title of the piano studio. I used a grid system to place images in regards to what will be included at the event. This also helped to follow the Rule of Thirds, along with the title of the piano studio before in the top left instead of being centered.
